Four years after commissioning it, Gebrüder Weiss has further extended the Wörgl location. Investments of some two million Euro have provided an optimal infrastructure for logistics projects.
A continuing positive development in business and increased customer requirements – particularly in the procurement logistics area – led to a need for expansion. "We expanded the plant by over 2,000 m², doubled the pallet warehouse capacity and substantially increased our service package in respect of hazardous goods and refrigeration logistics," explains Luis Putschner, Gebrüder Weiss Manager for the Tyrol region. As early as July of this year, the additional warehouse racking capacities were taken into operation. The hazardous goods and refrigeration areas have been at the disposal of customers since September.5,300 pallet spaces
With this expansion, the number of pallet spaces at the Wörgl logistics centre increased to a total of 5,300 and there are security cabins over an area of 300 square metres for the storage of goods of diverse hazardous goods categories. Apart from that, an area of 100 square metres provides refrigeration/deep freeze facilities. Maximum security is provided in the racking warehouse as well as in the hazardous goods area by state-of-the-art fire safety and extinguishing devices.
Set for growth
Lower Tyrol has been one of the most economically strong regions of Austria for years. Luis Putschner is continuing to count on the potential growth of this market: "I am convinced that it will not be long until the expanded capacities of our depot are being used at their full level again." Apart from the pharmaceutical group Sandoz, companies such as GE-Jenbacher and Heliotherm heat pumps rely upon the logistics expertise of Gebrüder Weiss
