Maria Saal, Lauterach - 25.09.2006 00:00:00
A welcome break from the usual daily routine was provided last Friday, when the handling terminal at the Gebrüder Weiss branch in Maria Saal became more like a banqueting hall. Some 120 guests joined the staff in raising their glasses to 15 years of GW in Carinthia and the expansion of the terminal.
It was in the year 1991 when the transport and logistics organisation Gebrüder Weiss extended its network of branches by adding a location in Carinthia. Business activities developed magnificently in Maria Saal, particularly over the last five years. The number of employees has increased by a three-fold amount to some 45 and during the financial year of 2006, the milestone figure of 100,000 shipments will be passed. The necessary expansion to the terminal was just realised for some 2 million Euro – and a further expansion is already in planning. The 15th birthday, the recently concluded expansion of the branch and the encouraging development in business prompted GW Maria Saal to celebrate a party at the logistics terminal. Operating Managers Markus Ebner, Bernhard Allmann and Anita Vovk were able to welcome some 120 guests. Apart from many customers, these also included Leopold Sever, Vice President of the Economic Chamber, Mag. Alfred Puff, representative for the transportation and traffic section of the Economic Chamber of Carinthia, Maria Saal's Mayor Richard Brachmaier, as well as Gebrüder Weiss Board Member Wolfram Senger-Weiss.
Business cabaret
Many GW customers took the opportunity of finally putting faces to voices that they had only previously known on the telephone. The creature comforts of the guests were also well catered for by a buffet that was a colourful mixture of Carinthian, Italian, American and Asian specialities, and which left nothing to be desired. Markus Warum, who provided the audience with amusing extracts from his "Business Cabaret”, staged the entertainment and a relaxing final note to the event was provided by a lounge and cocktail bar.
The Gebrüder Weiss organisation
The GW organisation, headquartered in Lauterach, employs a total of approximately 3,900 people at 134 locations worldwide. The logistics company generated sales of 789 million Euro in financial year 2005.
